An ode to the women in my life

To the women in my life,

The girls who stepped up for me when I needed it most,

The women who held my hand, helped me up and showed me that asking for help isn’t a personal failure,

But that it would empower me,

To the women in my life who taught me the strength of learning to check the goals off of my own “to-do” list,

Helped me draft my to-do list,

Aided me in be strong enough to attain my goals,

The women who showed me that self-love would give me an impermeable armor,

Stood by long enough for me to start to grow into the women I never knew I could be,

These are the women I aspire to be,

The ones who sat with me and reminded me that my kindness isn’t a fault,

But one of my greatest attributes,

Who reminded me that one day someone would come along and see all of the beauty in that,

Someone who would never take advantage of it,

The one’s who reminded me that even if no one ever did see it,

That I would be just fine,

To the women in my life who cared,

Who saw me,

Who wanted to help,

It’s because of you I stand here today so strong,

Without you, I don’t know where I would be,

I am a collection of all of the strong women who stood up for me,

Showed up for me,

Were there for me when I needed it most,

I am forever thankful for you
